Stanley J. Horyczun, a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2012. He was the son of the late George Horyczun and Bernice Popp Horyczun.
Stanley graduated from Stamford High School and was a sheet metal worker by trade. He was employed by Durkee Sheet Metal Co. and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local 38. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army’s 468 Engineer Division, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant, and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands.
Mr. Horyczun is survived by two nieces, Andrea H. Curley of Maplewood, NJ, and Dr. Victoria H. Raveis, also of Maplewood; a nephew, Michael G. Horyczun, of Trumbull, CT; and a grand-niece, Lia V. Horyczun, also of Trumbull. He was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Horyczun, and two brothers, Andrew Horyczun and Joseph Horyczun, both of Stamford.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday, October 17th at St. Maurice Church, 358 Glenbrook Road in Stamford. Interment will immediately follow at St. John R.C. Cemetery in Darien, CT.
